Randolph Engineering Aviator Sunglasses – Review
You guys are killing me with your lack of style and class. You’re either sporting some cheap, low quality aviator sunglasses you found at the corner gas station, or you’re rocking shutter shades trying to be like Kanye. I understand that in some situations you may want to wear those sunglasses for whatever reason, but you need at least one pair of nice shades…..fast! Why? Well, for a lot of reasons. Going on a date? Have an interview? A meeting? A wedding to attend? The list goes on and on but you catch my drift; life calls for situations where you need to dress to impress and your cheapo sunglasses aren’t gonna cut it. Simply put, what you wear reflects on how you carry yourself through life, even something like sunglasses.
I’ve been looking for a few years now for this elusive pair of shades that combines style, class, comfort, durability, quality and affordability all rolled into one. But I finally found them after recently acquiring a pair of sunglasses from Randolph Engineering, a company based out of Randolph, MA. Randolph was initially supplying the Department of Defense with military grade, aviation flight glasses. The company then expanded and began selling high quality sunglasses to the public, including their ranger series, sunglass series and RX series. I personally have a pair of the JAG sunglasses from Randolph and they are amazing. The style is impeccable, quality on par with sunglasses costing hundreds more and class that is absolutely priceless.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Randolph’s sunglasses is the lens technology used. Besides the aesthetics and the quality and craftsmanship that goes into manufacturing durable frames, the lens itself is what is truly important at the end of the day for protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays and helping you see better while flying or driving. All of Randolph’s lenses absorb 98-100% of harmful ultraviolet rays but allow 12-18% of visible light to pass through, allowing you to see comfortably while ensuring that your eyes aren’t being damaged from UV rays. Polarized lenses are also available but are not recommended for use in cockpits due to the polarization filtering out lights on cockpit instruments.
Randolph’s main product are the aviators of course but they offer several other aviator inspired variations. What’s really cool is the option to completely customize your pair of sunglasses, including lens size, frame color, lens color and temple style. Many of the sunglasses they offer are even available as prescription frames with sunglass clip-ons.
But that’s just my .02, what’s your opinion on these sunglasses? Love’em? Hate’em?

I just recently got a pair of Intruders and I love them. I’m very picky when it comes to sunglasses and the quality and style surpass any other sunglasses out there. Not only can you feel the quality of craftsmanship but these sunglasses are comfortable to wear all day long.
Very satisfied customer,
Eric
